15 may 2008 - WinMedia Group chooses Axia to build IP-Audio networks - Read more...
WinMedia Group, broadcast software solutions provider, has announced a partnership to integrate its automation software, WinMedia 2.8, with Axia Livewire technology to provide virtually infinite audio input / output management over Ethernet!
Recently, WinMedia’s partnership with Axia was put into action at Lisiera, Italy’s Radio Oreb, part of the Radio in Blue syndication network. The project included two studios, 5 WinMedia systems and a main computer room connected via Ethernet and powered by the Axia IP-Audio system.
Radio Oreb chose WinMedia software to manage their Axia IP-Audio matrix, which consists of Axia Analog and AES/EBU Audio Nodes, Axia Element digital radio console and several Axia Microphone Nodes; audio streams in the studios are routed over Ethernet. Since these uncompressed, real-time audio streams are routable via TCP/IP, WinMedia software is easily capable of controlling and automating routing operations.
With WinMedia, routing switcher commands can be associated with individual audio files using the WinMedia SQL Database. When an audio file with routing commands is played on the air, the associated command automatically routes the audio to the pre-chosen destinations, meaning that users can, in effect, define a nearly infinite number of routing commands.
In addition to storing routing scene changes with audio files, WinMedia users can also schedule routing changes using WinMedia daypart clocks. Using this efficient system, broadcasters can switch audio streams at pre-determined times, much the same way music is scheduled.
The successful completion of the Radio Oreb installation demonstrates the seamless integration of WinMedia software with Axia IP-Audio hardware and software products. This interesting and innovative partnership between WinMedia Software and Axia IP-Audio system will allow broadcasters to manage their studio networks with unparalleled flexibility.
